World Sickle Cell Day, June 19, 2023

Today, REDAC invites us to come together " around sickle cell disease." While REDAC's ever-renewed series of symposia and workshops has always offered intense, diverse, and lasting encounters and exchanges, in this post-COVID period, it is even more important to place sickle cell disease within the context of health for all: indeed, this condition remains a global public health priority , responsible for 5-15% of infant mortality in many countries where prevalence is high, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

All together around sickle cell disease : this message is first and foremost addressed to those most directly affected—people living with sickle cell disease and their families. But it is also, of course, addressed to healthcare professionals, scientists and researchers, political leaders, the media, artists, athletes, funders, international institutions—everyone. It is up to all of us to come together and commit to fighting sickle cell disease for the well-being of all.
